What to bring to your first appointment

If you are a new patient, please bring the following to your first consultation:

  • A valid Medicare Card
  • Valid OSHC/OVC membership details
  • Workcover patients will need to inform their employer and bring your employer’s contact details for verification to arrange payment
  • Help us eliminate waiting times by arriving at least 5 minutes before your consultation.

Policies

Home Visits Policy

Visits can be arranged in certain circumstances with a pre-booked arrangement with the doctor on call. Please contact the receptionist to discuss your needs. Remember, always call the ambulance service at 000 if you are experiencing severe pain or illness at any time.

Email Policy

For all communication outside the software program that contains sensitive data/information, we prefer not to communicate via email.

After Hour Services

We recommend contacting the local hospital or attend the Emergency Department- Campbelltown Emergency Department.

If you need medical care and Tahmoor Family Medical Practice is closed, please call 13 Sick National Home: 13 74 25.

Contacting Your Health Professional

Phone calls to your doctor will be put through initially to the nurse if available, or the nurse will return your call as soon as possible. The nurse will then discuss any concerns with your doctor and get him/her to phone you back as required. If your doctor has asked you to phone, please advise reception, and you will be put through, or a message will be taken for the doctor to return your call as soon as possible.

Compliments and Complaints

If at any time you have a concern, comment or suggestion, please do not hesitate to fill in a “Compliment, Comment or Complaint” form (available in the Medical Centre Waiting Room), Health Care Complaints Commission www.hccc.nsw.gov.au, Level 12, 323 Castlereagh Street (corner of Hay St), SYDNEY New South Wales 2000, (02) 9219 7444

Booking Appointments

Appointments may be booked by calling: (02) 9249 9144 or in person Monday to Friday 08:30 AM – 6:00 PM and Weekends & Public Holidays 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Regular appointment times are 15 minutes if you feel you need longer, please discuss with the receptionist at the time of booking.

Appointments for health assessments, complex medical problems or removal of skin lesions, all require extra time.

Whilst the Doctors aim to keep patients waiting times as short as possible; delays may occur.

Walk-ins are – Welcome.
New patient – Welcome.

Appointments

Our practice is appointment-based, however, we always welcome and accommodate walk-in patients. Our standard consultations are up to 15 minutes.

Communication Assistances

If you require assistance with communication (eg. translator), please notify Reception upon arrival. A phone interpreter may be available.

If you require an Auslan sign language interpreter during your appointment, a booking can be made online at http://www.nabs.org.au/ or by phone 1800 246 945.
